'It's like they never miss a pass': Swansea's Ethan Galbraith resumes contest with Pep's side.

Ethan Galbraith grins broadly as he reminisces about the nail-biting final moments of his team's stunning fightback win against Nottingham Forest in the League Cup. The encounter ended with Galbraith picking up a supporter's spectacles following the on-field celebration.

During the final moments of stoppage time, Galbraith rattled the woodwork with a powerful strike from outside the box, and his teammate immediately converted the rebound before sprinting toward the home end to mark the goal, with supporters congregating around the players.

Remarkable Recovery

The result capped an incredible recovery given the team had found themselves down 2-0 midway through the final 45 minutes. During the celebrations, there was some unintended consequences. Galbraith explained, "There was a supporter sort of calling out and we were wondering: 'What's he on about here?' Then we spotted the glasses. It was a light-hearted moment putting them on. We are on the pitch as footballers but we're humans, too, so to have a laugh with the fans is always good."

Premier League Giants

The victory booked a fourth-round game at home against Pep Guardiola's side on Wednesday, opponents Galbraith came close against at the equivalent round of the FA Cup with the London side in February. The athletic midfielder had an excellent perspective when Orient took the lead in stunning style, with Jamie Donley's volley from about way out going in via the woodwork and the City goalkeeper. It feels criminal that it was deemed an own goal.

"You would have expected they would've given it to him for attempting the shot from that far out," commented Galbraith, who started in midfield before shifting to right defensive wing after the team changed formation. That meant getting to grips with Jack Grealish, with whom he exchanged jerseys, and the winger was among the opposition who paid tribute to the way the underdogs attacked the game.

Opponent's Class

"Fitness-wise they are outstanding but even the fundamentals and basic skills, they can just execute repeatedly," the midfielder notes. "It seems as if they always find their target and they understand how to manage and neutralize a game. You can believe you're holding your own and then abruptly they will just thread a ball through a line without you even noticing. You have to be switched on at all times of the game. It demands a resilient mindset and focus just to stay in the game."

Swansea Move

The club were keen on Galbraith in January and fought off rivals to secure him in the summer in a significant move. He made a name as a fans' favourite across multiple campaigns at Orient and has rapidly done the same in Wales. At the London club he joined forces once more with the coach, who four years ago gave Galbraith his first extended run in professional games on loan at his loan club from United. Then came a spell at League Two Salford City, before he moved on from Manchester United.

Learning Curve

"I was probably a slightly green going into men's football. I think numerous professionals would say development squad matches is entirely separate. Sometimes it seems possession is exchanged without real physicality. There are limited tackles or duels. Once you start playing professional matches you have to adjust fast."

Country Call-ups

He has shown that maturation for both domestically and internationally, shining for Northern Ireland, who remain in contention for the global tournament next summer via the qualifying rounds and for whom he has featured in the recent fixtures, including home and away encounters against a football powerhouse. Ian Baraclough, Galbraith's ex- international manager, offered the supreme accolade, saying he was Northern Ireland's "creative maestro" given how he manipulates the ball and his eye for a decisive through ball.

Early Days

It has been quite the ride for the youngster from the neighborhood in Glengormley, just outside Belfast, who grew up watching his father, the elder Galbraith, also a central player, play for his father's team.

Old Trafford Memory

His only game for the Red Devils came in Central Asia in 2019, a continental tournament trip to Astana, where they played on an plastic turf and the venue ceiling was closed owing to the weather of freezing cold. "That proved to be a long trip and it was freezing," he comments, smiling. "The preceding week, the academy prospects practiced as a group, so that assisted our preparation. Just to accompany the senior squad and get a couple of minutes at the end was incredible."

Departing Old Trafford

How hard was it to depart Manchester United, the club he joined from Linfield aged a teenager? "This turned out quite easy, because I arrived at the moment where I knew I wasn't going to make it at the senior squad. I'm extremely thankful for the experience gained but it reached a stage where I thought I had to take a different path, drop down the leagues and play men's football. Now I'm slowly climbing the ladder."

New Environment

It is the middle of the day at the team's practice facility but Galbraith has somewhere to be at the early evening: a road rules assessment, another step towards getting on the road. Until recently to his new neighborhood, the mid-twenties player was a regular in Swansea's so-called fun bus, a minibus driven by academy staff, the transport team, which ferries players to and from sessions and fixtures.

"I travel with a teammate, Ronald, the midfielder – the Swedish defender used to be in it but has got his license. It's enjoyable to spend time with the teammates but I'm aiming to be the next one to stop using the bus and behind the wheel. His teammate enjoys practical jokes; he's always up to all sorts."

Supporter Connections

When he represented his former club, Galbraith would blend in with supporters on London's Central line after beginning his trip at Brentwood. "I tried|I attempted|My aim
